LTG (Ret.) Jack Woodmansee. CEO and President.
Jack retired from the U.S. Army in 1989 after 33 years of service. A Vietnam veteran, Jack led air cavalry units for two years, flying over 1500 hours of combat missions. His last assignment was commander of the 62,000 soldiers in the U.S. V Corps in Germany. Jack was one of the Army’s visionaries and was a key contributor to the design of the organizations, tactics, and equipment used in Desert Storm. His last assignment in the Pentagon was the Director of Army Requirements, where Jack was responsible for prioritizing the Army’s then $25 billion Research, Development, and Acquisition budget. Following his military career, Jack consulted for some of the top defense industries, to include Texas Instruments, Bell Helicopter, and LTV in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. In 1993, Jack joined Perot Systems Corporation, where, within a year, he became a member of the Board of Directors and the leader of North America Sales and Operations, the major part of the company’s business. He was instrumental in turning his part of the business into a very profitable sector, and never failed to renew a contract with his customers. In 1997, he left Perot to take over as CEO of M&W Medical Management, Inc., a company his wife had founded. 1997 was the most profitable year in the company’s history, and the company was purchased in December of 1997. Jack has a MS degree in Public Administration from George Washington University, and an MA in Political Science from Stanford University. He was a White House Fellow under President Lyndon Johnson, and a National Security Fellow at the Hoover Institution for War, Revolution, and Peace. He is a past member of the Defense Science Board, and currently a member of the Army Science Board. He co-chaired a 2002 study on “Aerial Support for the Objective Force”, and chaired a 2003 effort on “Combat ID”. Jack is also a member of the Army Aviation Hall of Fame.
CWO John “Woody” Woodmansee III (USAR). VP / Co-Founder
From 1980-86, John served in the US Army as an attack helicopter pilot. He left the Army in ‘86 and joined International Systems and Applied Technology, as a consultant on aviation matters to defense industries in both the U.S. and Europe. In 1988, he became the Director of Marketing for FANA and Protect-a-Boat, a company specializing in shrink-wrapping of aircraft and boats for storage and transshipment around the world. In December 1989, he led a FANA team to the USSR (Armenia) to assist in providing shelters for the population after a severe earthquake. In 1993 John moved to Plano, TX to help establish and expand a family owned medical management practice. He also became a senior instructor, system designer and programmer for another family business, Layne Communications. Finally in 1997, John decided it was time to start his own company along with his father and friend Don Wooten. TRG started off with one product and with in 5 years was doing over 5 million in sales. The first 3 years John was chief cook and bottle washer… product designer, product tester, patent holder, sales rep, video and print ad producer, billing and shipping… you name it he did it all. After TRG’s first 2 products became Army issued items, John and Don designed new products based on “requirements” from soldiers, police and the fire rescue communities. John also searched the country for special gear and is responsible for nearly every product sold today by TRG.
Donald W. Wooten. VP / Co-Founder , Engineering and Production.
Since 1995, Don has been the CEO and President of Wooten Metals Inc., a 40-year-old company specializing in custom machined products, both metal and acrylic. Since his appointment, the company has become a profitable enterprise and with a steady 35% increase in revenues each year. The company has an impressive list of clients which include many of the Fortune 500 companies: EXXON, Bell Helicopter (Textron), Texas Instruments, and Rockwell. Don brings a combination of engineering insights and creative design capabilities that are the foundation of TRG’s intent to manufacture and introduce new products to the law enforcement, commercial, and military markets. He is a multi- patent holder and co-designer on the Weapons Flashlight Mount and the Folding Grappling Hook. Don is also responsible for the design and fitting of the rack systems and spare tire carriers for all HMMWV’s and also all other military vehicles.
Dr. Sheldon M. Lambert. VP Business Strategy and Steering Committee.
From 1958 to 1981, Dr. Lambert worked for Shell Oil. He organized Shell’s first Information and Computer Services operation, and finally became the head of Shell’s Energy Planning and Economics office, the organization responsible for long term strategic planning. In 1981, Shel joined LTV Corporation as a member of the Senior Management Committee of the then $8 billion conglomerate. He left the company in 1986, but continued to serve as a consultant to them until 1992 in areas of strategic planning, advanced materials technology, commercial venturing, and research and development. In 1991 he founded Tektran Associates, Inc., an organization devoted to the technical transfer of intellectual property. He currently works with a number of U.S. universities on efforts to commercialize products and processes, which emanate from the university’s R&D activities. In 1997, Dr. Lambert was elected to the Board of Directors of Therapeutics Associates, Inc., a west coast based healthcare company. He has authored over 30 technical publications, contributed to many textbooks, and has served on numerous national technical committees such as the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineers. He is currently the guiding force in a startup company to rapidly detect and identify chemical and biological agents.
COL Robert A. Woodmansee (TXARNG). VP - Business Development.
Rob is a 1984 graduate of the United States Military Academy with 20 years of army service. An armor officer, Rob commanded a tank company during Operation Desert Storm with the 2nd Armored Division’s Tiger Brigade. He currently serves as the G-8 (Resource Management) for the 36th Infantry Division. Previous commands include the 5th Battalion 112th Armor, as well as the 36th Infantry Division Rear Operations Center. He is a graduate of the Armored Officer Basic and Advance courses, as well as the Combined Arms and Services Staff School and the Command and General Staff Officers Course. Before joining TRG in 2001, Rob served in key technical and management positions in Perot Systems, Nortel and the Danbrook Group. Rob has been pivotal in introducing TRG equipment into the major army commands and has had a critical role in turning TRG into a multi-million dollar company.
